GourMel® was founded by Mel Walker, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu’s San Francisco California Culinary Academy. Her approach to food is simple – fresh, fun, innovative and delicious. Mel’s passion for international travel is reflected in her ethnic food options and flavor profiles. She has enjoyed a wonderful career in Los Angeles, happily catering to much of the Hollywood community.
Before focusing exclusively on catering, GourMel® produced a line of specialty breadsticks. In 1998, the breadsticks were honored by the National Association For the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) as a finalist in the Outstanding Baked Good, Bread, Grain or Cereal category. Mel also hones her culinary skills in the competitive arena. She earned the silver and bronze honors in KCCLA’s Taste Of Korea cooking contest in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
